Angel Of Comedy

President Barack Obama recently said, ~Robin Williams was an airman, a doctor, a genie, a nanny, a president, a professor, a bangarang Peter Pan, and everything in between. But he was one of a kind. He arrived in our lives as an alien - but he ended up touching every element of the human spirit. He made us laugh. He made us cry. He gave his immeasurable talent freely and generously to those who needed it the most - from our troops stationed abroad to the marginalized on our own streets.~ Without a doubt, the world became less funnier with the shocking death of a man who is not only considered to be a comedic genius, but an iconic movie legend as well. For it's a considerably stunning situation indeed to the point where we're all in a state of absolute emotional, numbing disbelief due to how he personally touched each one of us.

Let me ask you this question to those who are fans such as myself of Mr. Williams' work as an actor, what is your favorite movie? How about quotable lines from any of his movies? I think its safe to say we can't name just one because quite frankly there are a handful of films along with memorable lines that scores of individuals can undoubtedly say word for word from off the top of our head. Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poet Society, Jumanji, Popeye, Good Will Hunting, What Dreams May Come, Mrs. Doubtfire, Jack, Aladdin, Hook, etc. are just a small number of movies that cause us to experience a gambit of emotions one of them being mainly laughter. Essentially, his ability to make people laugh till it hurts to where we're brought to tears is something we all hold in a very special place in our heart.

If you think about it, you never know the contributions made by such a great actor until you listen to those who have a personal/professional connection with him or simply a mere fan of his. In the stand up comedy world, there are countless well established/up and coming comedians who quintessentially tip their hat to a guy who they considered to be the one who partly paved the way for comedic artists of the future like Kevin Hart and Norm McDonald. Now, when it comes to the other side of the spectrum, he was tremendously generous in academia in regards to Zero Dark Thirty actress Jessica Chastain who revealed it was Robin who provided her with a scholarship, inevitably helping her to become the first one in her family to graduate college. You see, it's by his generosity that Jessica is going to pay it forward to a deserving individual out there in honor of her friend.

For the question can be asked concerning the man who is known worldwide as a comedic genius, what endearing qualities did you enjoy about him as an actor? Personally speaking, I enjoyed how he was such a ball of energy that was on no matter what, allowing you to see a guy who could make you laugh at any moment. His ability to ad-lib proved how much of an insanely, crazy guy who could make any situation extremely hilarious. A perfect example is at the Golden Globes and Christine Lahti won best performance by an actress in a television drama. When her name was called she was nowhere to be found leading to an awkward situation being that she was at the time in the bathroom. However, it would soon turn comical once Robin Williams went on stage making the awkward situation turn into something memorable and funny in a way only he could do.

In retrospect, the news of Robin William's death hit all of us very hard. Thinking about it, the significant impact this tragic event has caused has certainly left us deeply saddened so much so its as if we've lost a part of a family member. True, he was considered possibly the crazy uncle of the family but a family member nonetheless. In any case, we all knew he was battling demons in the form of addiction and deep depression. Yet, through time he was able to conquer them or so we thought. Ultimately, as a fan who was introduced to him by way of the movie Popeye he will forever be in my heart and memory banks as he gave me reason to smile, as well as laugh all through my childhood. In the end, I fair to say we all can hear laughter coming from Heaven now as God has gained the angel of comedy bringing joy to families/friends who passed on.
