Prove Yourself

Throughout our lives each of us will encounter "critics" who will question everything and anything that one does and says. In a way, it's like taking a test in which there are no right or wrong answers. Life itself can be somewhat considered one huge final exam where a person is being tested and he or she hasn't completely studied for it. Nobody can be prepared at what life can throw at you on a daily basis. It's just a matter of relying on one's own instincts and hopefully you will get the answers correct.

Oftentimes, these "critics" are constantly looking over one's shoulder, so to speak, supposedly thinking they have the best intentions for each of us. Such critics one will face are teachers/professors and of the working world his or her boss. One can sometimes feel their under the proverbial microscope and every little thing that doesn't meet their expectations should be met. It's like having your life on a schedule and one must be on a deadline in order to meet their expectations.

Yet, the two toughest "critics" that a person listens to, most of the time, are one's parents. For they too have expectations that they want to be met and have somewhat of a timeline set for our lives. But sometimes the plans that one's parents have for their lives don't necessarily match up with their own. A parent has to realize that their baby boy and/or baby girl is all grown up and will have to let go. It's their time to make their own mark in life and as the saying goes, you can't hold his or her hand forever.

In any case, the biggest "critic" that a person can listen to is yourself. We can sometimes live our lives second guessing ourselves and come to the point where we can metaphorically beat ourselves up with the decisions we make in life. But that's life, we live with the decision that we make, though it may take awhile to get over it. The scars of past mistakes will soon fade. It's just a matter of moving on, not looking back, though one may eventually stumble in the near future, but that is to be expected.

As I said in the beginning, life can be considered one huge test. There will be areas in one's life that he or she may either pass successfully or fail miserably. Life can throw each of us curve balls that either make a person throw in the towel or continue to keep fighting. There is no denying that one will always have "critics" in your ear, but it's been said that critics can always be proven wrong from time to time. Sometimes in order to prove yourself, a person must take a step back to move forward with one's journey of life.
