If you think about it, it's the little things in life that seem insignificant are oftentimes the most important things in a person's life. One can often take for granted the things that mean so much to a person that he or she rarely thinks about losing. A person can oftentimes think that they have a nice firm hold on what's important to them, but that mentality can oftentimes bite them in the butt so to speak. One can literally be blind to what a person has in front of them until it's gone.
A person can sometimes take for granted the limbs that he or she has until it is taken away from them. A simple thing such as walking or holding something in one's hand or arms can make a person appreciate what they have. If one loses that ability then he or she simply has to adjust and become stronger physically and mentally. A person who literally turned a negative into a positive is actor Christopher Reeves. Though he isn't able to walk, his spirits are high and he is fighting the good fight.
In some ways, a little thing like friendship can be taken for granted as well. It's been said that one can tell what type of person you are by the friends that you have. Yet, if one doesn't have any friends, it's a safe bet that you don't have any people skills or you're simply a loner. In any case, a valued friendship is one of the greatest assets that a person can invest in because they will have your back through thin and thin. Think about this, who else knows you better than yourself other than your parents?
Have you ever thought about what it would be like to lose any of your five senses? It's those senses a person uses that most that can be taken away in an instant. Even though a blind person has lost their sight, other senses such as touch and hearing will get stronger as time goes by. It's an adjustment that a person will have to make in order to go on with life. Think about this, a person who is blind can see the true beauty of the world better than a person who always has his eyes open and sees nothing.
In retrospect, it's the little things that count in a potential or significant relationship that make life worth living. Little things such as the way that person looks at you, that certain smile that he or she gives, that certain touch that a person gives that makes you feel special like a kiss. There are also those compliments that seem insignificant to you but mean so much to that person which will be remembered for years to come. In the end, keep noticing the little things, if not, then you lose what matters most...love.
