Fear Factor

There is a saying that goes that there is nothing to fear but fear itself. Yet there are some fears that a person can't get past which can hinder someone from moving forward on their journey of life. Statistics have shown that the number one leading fear among many Americans is the fear of public speaking followed by death. It's that innate fear of eyes on you and one mistake may cause an embarrassing situation. For the fears that a person has can travel with a person until the latter years of a person's life.

Every person has a particular fear or phobia that will never go away. Some people are afraid of the dark, others snakes and spiders, for many clowns, and in some cases Richard Simmons. There are a plethora of different fears in the world that are too many to mention. Fears such as claustrophobia which is the fear of enclosed spaces. One may have the perception that the walls are closing in on them. It may be only in that person's mind but that fear can overwhelm a person to the point of extreme anxiety.

In any case, life is all about trying to conquer those fears that seem to beat us, so to speak. For most people, that fear of failure can push a person to reach a standard of excellence that one sets for themselves. In a way, we try to be perfect, but as the saying goes nobody is perfect. Prefection, in most cases, can push that person to the brink or a mental or physical breakdown. But in a way, a person must fail at something in order to prove that he or she is only human after all.

Someone once said,~ That it's alright to be afraid because it shows that we're all human beings. That fear can reveal itself in many different aspects of life such as meeting new people, finding that one who you feel is the right one, and potentially marrying that person.~ It can also be said that one can be afraid of the aspect of being a parent. One just has to trust in their own instincts and not let that fear take over. Not every parent does it the same way, one just has to find their own niche and stick to it.

In a way, life is somewhat compared to the NBC hit show Fear Factor. It's all about facing the tough challenges ahead of us and the fears that go along with it. One can learn that it's ok to be afraid as long as you face those challenges head on and don't back down. Though we don't consume "gourmet" food and win a cash prize, we attain something much greater and that is knowing you conquered your fears. In the end, we want Joe Rogan to say to us that we stared fear in the face and that fear was most definitely not a factor.
