Come In

Each of our lives are somewhat compared to a door that opens and closes when we meet new people. We often tend to be cautious and look through the proverbial keyhole and decide if we want to open the door or not. Every person has trust issues when meeting new people, for we don't know if the people we meet have the best intentions. It's that way with relationships as well, for our hearts can be opened as well as closed permanently and never be opened again. Inevitably, it's a matter of opening the door to new experiences that will bring either joy or sorrow.

Sometimes a person can be afraid to open the door because past experiences have taught us to keep our guard up, so to speak. The wall that comes down from time to time will always be put back up whenever the door to a potential relationship is opened. It's always a risky thing when the door to one's own heart is involved. We risk sharing ourselves to a total stranger that may or may not last in the long run. But that's what life is all about, each door that we open can bring us to new places and new opportunities.

Other times, the door to one's own heart can be closed completely due to constant heartbreak or personal tragedy. Though the opportunities present themselves to find happiness, that person chooses to live a life of solace and wonder. Every person at one time or another has felt that loss which can never be replaced. It's just a matter of re-opening the door that hasn't been opened in awhile. For it can take a very special person to bring them back to the light so to speak, a person that is willing to be there without even asking.

One can lose a part of himself and never be the same person he or she was. In some cases, a smile can be lost which may or may not be found again. It's like standing in a hallway full of doors and no matter where you go, you end up in the same place. It's also like walking through a maze, each turn ends up leading to a dead end. For one has to back track, back to the beginning and start over. It can be frustrating but one cannot give up hope, for that one door will hopefully bring back that smile that once was lost.

Everybody will have or has had a knock at their door and it's a knock that feels right to that person. Though, there have been many times when one opens the door and nobody is standing there. It can sometimes give someone a sense of false hope. BUT every person has an idea of who will be standing on the other side but can't quite figure out who that person is. In a way, he or she has been standing at the doorway knocking waiting for you to open it. In the end, do you know who will be standing at your doorway and will you ask them to come in?
