Defining Moment

Every person has a defining moment in which the decision he or she makes can ultimately determine the next step in his or her journey. A journey that involves one's own heart as that person seeks an answer to a question. A question which can either start a new beginning or have it possibly end for two people. It can be a scary thing when a person walks into the unknown and has no control over what is going to happen next. Emotions can run every which way but loose, for that person can be cool on the outside but a total wreck on the inside. Thoughts of doubt and second guessing can come into play but in the end it's an ultimate decision one will make.

For that person can think, rethink, and continue thinking of the repercussions of that decision one has made. It can drive one completely insane to the point where one doesn't want to think about it anymore. It's like standing at a crossroads where one path leads to the happiness he or she is seeking and the other path leads to a lifetime of wonder and/or regret. Over time, those regrets can ultimately haunt us as one gets older. For every time that person looks in the mirror, one will always see that one chance just slip by him or her. Someone once said, ~I would rather die knowing I took chances than die with regret that I never tried?~

In retrospect, both men and women were put on this earth to completely drive each other nuts. It's a job that both do equally but some may disagree. As one looks at his or her own past, the moments that they experienced have either taught them life lessons or have not taught them anything at all. There comes a time where one moment in one's own life completely overshadows the others. One could possibly say that the birth of one's own child can fall into that category, anything else can't compare to that. Let me ask you a question, what one moment in your life, bad or good, completely overshadowed the rest and it defined your own life?

In any case, every person's one moment is the same, though the situation may differ in his or her own life. Whether it be professionally or personally, it's that one decision that person makes that will determine success or defeat. Yet defeat is such a harsh word, for one can't perceive an outcome that hasn't happened yet. It's like giving up on a battle that one thinks he or she might lose. You can't let one's own doubt control you, it's just a matter of going for it. In reality, it's out of one's own hand and one can only sit back and wait. One just has to close his or her eyes and take that first step into a whole new world.

Follow your heart, a sentiment that holds true for everybody that has or is taking that leap of faith so to speak. I once compared one's own heart to a compass in which it can point you in many different directions. Ultimately, each of us have been or will be pointed in the right direction and will take that leap of faith. A leap of faith in which every guy seeks an answer to the most important question he will ever ask to the woman he loves. For it is when every guy, including myself one day, will get on bended knee, looking into the eyes of the woman he loves, and ask this question...will you marry me?
