Pipebomb

Current WWE wrestler C.M. Punk said, ~I want to make wrestling cool again.~ Without a doubt, the sport of professional wrestling in regards to the WWE hasn't been cool and not to mention fun for quite some time to the point where it has actually become uninteresting to watch. It's a sentiment I share with many other die hard wrestling fans who would absolutely agree with me. However, what or should I say who has brought the cool and fun factor back to the proverbial male soap opera for guys is the ever so controversial C.M. Punk. You see, the man who proclaims himself to be straight edge has single handedly kicked new life into a business that primarily deemed sports entertainment by simply speaking his mind and for true wrestling such as myself we're hanging on every word.

As said before, C.M. Punk has been speaking his mind causing true wrestling fans all around the world to intently listen to what he has to say because its the truth. Its a refreshing situation indeed to hear him speak, inevitably pushing the envelope when it comes to talking about the issues of the wrestling business that are considered not only taboo, but have given a voice to what many of us have been thinking/writing for a number of years. Essentially, he broke down or should I say destroyed the 4th wall ranting off about such taboo topics as the WWE being better off after Vince McMahon is dead, particular wrestlers being let go, the PG era, the marriage between Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, etc., are a small list of things he has the balls to say knowing he can get away with it.

If you think about it, of the list of taboo topics Punk has openly spoken about, the issue concerning the PG Era is a problem he not only thinks needs to be changed, but for many of us who grew up watching wrestling that wholeheartedly agree it needs to change as well. In his mind, John Cena is the source of the problem as he is the primarily the face of the PG Era and its the main reason why the WWE has consistently remained stagnant. Why? The reason is the WWE mainly marketing to kids who along with a certain number of the females in the audience are ruining what many true wrestling fans have grown to enjoy/love. Thankfully, the PG era is gradually returning to the prominence of what was once great as the non-apologetic in your face program with attitude and even though it may not exactly be like the attitude era it's most definitely getting real all thanks to him.

Let me ask you this question to you wrestling fans out there, how many of you respect Punk even more as he is giving a voice to the voiceless? I can honestly say I am one of the many who respect him even more as he is personally leading the charge for change and fortunately it's happening for the better. Unfortunately, the one who hasn't changed is John Cena because his character hasn't evolved whereas characters like Orton, Undertaker, Stone Cold, Triple H, and Punk himself have evolved their personas switching from heel to face. Thinking about it, Punk and the millions of fans who are possibly thinking the same thing would love nothing more than to have Cena turn heel instead of staying a face whereby much respect would be given but if that happens his female, as well as young fans would end up crying.

In retrospect, the older fans of the WWE applaud the actions of C.M. Punk as we are sick and tired of the same ole' predictable storylines where John Cena wins the title again for the upteenth time ala Hulk Hogan. True, at one time he was liked as the Dr. of Thuganomics but after a while he grew out of it and he ultimately became the man who was ultimately shoved down our throats...but I digress. Hey, you can't deny that because of the straight edge superstar WWE has become relevant again so much so the topic of ice cream bars was trending on twitter because he wanted it back. In the end, Punk has become the quintessential Stone Cold whose rebellious attitude toward authority i.e. Triple H or any other wrestler/superstar for that matter causes absolutely explosive results each time he is in the ring holding a pipebomb in his hand.
