Percy Bysshe Shelley once said, ~Love is free; to promise forever to love the same woman is no less absurd than to promise to believe the same creed; such a vow in both cases excludes us from all inquiry.~ Without a doubt, love is indeed free and we all have the right to be with someone who we generally like being around or interested in. As a guy, it's in our nature to enjoy the company of a beautiful woman or several beautiful women for that matter who can most definitely visually capture our attention. Yet, it only takes one woman who can not just visually capture our attention, but can be able to also emotionally and mentally capture the attention as well for many years, which is what guys like myself want as we promise our heart to her.
If you think about it, to make that promise to be totally committed to one woman for the rest of your life can actually scare a many number of guys to the point where they freak out, but for others it's something that they look forward to. It's rare but not uncommon for a woman to meet a guy who can actually be and is able to stay faithful to her to where commitment, trust, respect, dignity, honesty, hope, joy, excitement, honor, loyalty, appreciation, etc. continue to stay unbroken within her heart. For its a guy who knows what he wants in a relationship, doesn't play mind games, isn't narcissistic, doesn't drag her down in order to build himself up, thinks about her needs over his, doesn't treat a woman with disrespect because he knows the value of a truly great partner in crime in front of him.
As said before in the quote above concerning promising forever to love the same woman has become a rarity these days with acts of infidelity running rampant to where the list of promises verbally made by the guy just become hollow words that no longer have meaning. It's a sad state of affairs when a woman doesn't have the capacity to trust the promises made due past heartbreaks. The promise to make her his first priority in his life; promising to never make her feel alone in the world because he will always be there right by her side; to promise to not ever intentionally hurt her by his words or actions; promising to never make her look like a fool; promising to be always be appreciative and not take her for granted, etc. are just a number promises that were unfortunately broken by a past relationship.
Let me ask you this question to all you ladies, how many of you have a guy or hope to have a guy in your life who has been/is able to keep the promises made to you? I think it would be safe to say that many women are tired of believing one promise after another only to find themselves once again being hurt, let down, and/or fooled into thinking he's different from all the rest. Thinking about it, every woman deserves to hear promises from a guy that will never be broken or sound empty, in a manner of speak, because he is true to his word unlike past relationships Let me tell you something ladies who are single, the guy you've been waiting for is out there somewhere and when he steps into your life all the promises you've wanted for your heart will assuredly be fulfilled.
Robert M. Hensel said, ~Build your world around me, and promise to never let me go, and if ever there comes a time it may seem crowded, may we expand so love may grow.~ In retrospect, a guy who can make the promise to be with one woman for the rest of his life and prove it when so many temptations are placed in front of him shows how much he truly loves her. For it's a guy who can open his eyes to see a life filled with true happiness built on love that is permanent rather than temporary to where he can look back and say to her thank you. Guys like myself hope to one day be lucky enough to meet that special someone. In the end, I won't let her go and she can look me in the eyes, truly believing the two words that tend to not be taken seriously these days...I promise.

Sometimes promises are broken because of circumstances that aren't under our control. But when that happens, it's a sign that life is taking you on a different path.
