John Bunyan once said, ~Pray often, for prayer is a shield to the soul, a sacrifice to God, and a scourge for Satan.~ Without a doubt, the power of prayer is something wondrous to behold as you put all your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ to answer what you specifically have been praying about. It can most definitely be a tough and frustrating situation indeed to continually pray for a specific need/request pertaining to your own life only to not have it come to fruition. What it primarily comes down to is waiting patiently for God to answer you prayers. For it may not be answered immediately or the next day because when it comes to Him answering our prayers its within his time, especially when it involves important decision making, family/friends, and matters of the heart.
As said before, when it comes to God answering our prayers He answers them within His time, especially when it pertains to making important decisions concerning one's life. I think it would be safe to say every person has prayed to the Lord above about a potential job opportunity or for that matter deciding to leave a job he/she has been a part of for quite some time. Each one of us have been or currently in a situation where you're either contemplating leaving a job to find something worthwhile whereas others are in search for a job that makes him/her happy all-the-while putting one's faith in Him looking for spiritual guidance. Personally speaking, I am faithfully praying that God will lead me to a job where I am not only happy, but it will be a career I will thoroughly enjoy.
If you think about it, the power of prayer works in regards to family and friends particularly when health issues occur. You see, in life there comes a point where it hands us an unexpected blow leaving us to experience a plethora of unwanted feelings, thoughts, and emotions. However, despite the turmoil you, family, and/or your friends are going through during that trying time you pray to God for strength as you leave all your worries/fears to Him. It's a sad state of affairs when a person doesn't pray and ends up blaming God for letting it even happen to the point where he/she not only gradually loses faith, but inevitably believes there is no God. Let me tell you something, don't ever lose faith or belief in Him because its not a matter of opening your eyes to see Him as it's a matter of opening your heart.
Let me ask you this question to those who are and were single, how many of you prayed to the man upstairs to send you/guide you to that certain someone special bringing absolute true happiness? As a single guy, I pray that God sends me or at least has me meet a woman who loves me for just being myself along with my geeky/nerdy quirks. Whether I have met her or not its my faith in God as He gives me the wisdom to properly ascertain if she is "the one." On the flip side, to those who have prayed they are now in a long lasting, loving relationship in the bonds of holy matrimony with a guy/girl who has fulfilled all his/her prayers and then some. Hey, I tip my hat to all you ladies and gents out there who didn't give up praying because you are now undeniably happy with your forever best friend.
Psalm 4 says, ~Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.~ In retrospect, there are so many amazing and unbelievable stories that are shared from people who fervently prayed to God. Thinking about it, all throughout the Bible you've read countless people who faithfully prayed to God like Daniel who was in the Lion's Den, John the Baptist's time in prison, Job's turmoil by way of God's hand, etc. For the question can be asked, how many of us can honestly say that when it comes to our own prayer life can it compare to those men mentioned above? In the end, the prayers we say during the day or at night are requests that hopefully come true and when they eventually do one word best describes it all...Amen.
