Herbert Otto once said, ~We are all functioning at a small fraction of our own capacity to live fully in its total meaning of loving, caring, creating, and adventuring. Consequently, the actualizing of our potential can become the most exciting adventure of our lifetime.~ Let me ask you this question, have you ever wanted or thought about what it would be like to be a pirate? Living life to the fullest by doing what you wanted, taking what you wanted, taking who you wanted, and most of all not letting any kind of set rules hold you down? With that said, wouldn't it be interesting if true love were like that where absolutely nothing stood in your way to capture someone who truly stole your heart.
Thinking about it, any guy would jump at the chance to be a pirate because it gives us a chance to be the bad guy. As the so called bad guy we would just swoop in unannounced with one's trusty sword in hand take the proverbial fair damsel away. Let me tell you something, every guy has had that thought of taking a particular female they either knew or a complete total stranger, whisk her away over one's shoulder, sailing off into the sunset, and have her eventually fall in love with you. Only in our dreams I know and besides one would truly suffer the consequences with jail or prison as the charge of kidnapping would put somewhat of a damper on establishing a relationship with the damsel in question.
Without a doubt, it's a woman's fantasy to be taken by a pirate, who would otherwise be known as the proverbial bad guy. Why a pirate? To be perfectly honest I have no earthly idea but my best guess is that there is a mysterious, romantic, arrogant, charm mixed in with a carefree, take no prisoners attitude that can cause any woman to be mesmerized to the point of being attracted to him. Respect must be given because even though a pirate is considered a dirty, rotten, scoundrel, he's a free spirit who loves the open sea with a passion. Unfortunately ladies, whether or not he resembles Captain Jack Sparrow a.k.a Johnny Depp will probably be best left in the fantasy of your own imagination.
As I've said before, true love is considered the greatest adventure two people can ever be on as you have the thrill of the chase for the guy and the thrill of being chased for the girl. Most definitely, countless stories can be told of men forever capturing their future wife and yet even though the chase is over the adventure still continues to go on. In any case, there are guys like myself who are still out there sailing the high seas, in a manner of speaking, chasing that unknown fair damsel. The same can be said for any woman who is still waiting for their unknown swashbuckler to sail in, give chase, and forever capture her heart.
In retrospect, we all metaphorically hold a map that leads to the greatest treasure a person can ever find...the human heart. Oftentimes, one's metaphorical map can take you in every direction but the one you want to go to the point that you find yourself lost sailing the high seas within your own heart, so to speak. It's at that point you try to figure out the next course/heading within one's internal compass, which can either take days, months, or years. Ultimately, when it comes to the map of true love there are those who are fortunate enough to find the greatest treasure connected to that special someone and in the end, x marks the spot for those who haven't given up the chase to find what truly does exist.
