Louisa May Alcott once said, ~Fame is a pearl many dive for and only a few bring up. Even when they do, it is not perfect, and they sigh for more, and lose better things in struggling for them.~ Let me ask you this question, why are we as a society so fascinated with wanting to know or at least be informed on what certain celebrities are doing or not doing for that matter? In my own thinking, it’s the entertainment factor of it all as they give people something to talk about when they do random acts that are either weird, strange, or completely stupid. In any case, on a seemingly daily basis, we are bombarded with images and possibly scandalous/controversial news that either grabs our attention or has our ears immediately tune in to what is being said whether we like it or not.
Without a doubt, fame is considered a catch 22 as a person's name and face become well known, but what also becomes well known is one's private life as well. For the anonymity of both himself/herself and one's family from anyone and everyone from looking to make money off of getting any kind of photo or documented info is no longer something that can be hidden behind anymore. For the most part, anything and everything will be deemed as fair game in order to get the reaction, as well as, inside scoop of what would possibly make interesting news to the viewing public no matter how trivial it is such as going to the store to buy several rolls of toilet paper, going to the nearby gas station to put gas in the car, or simply going to the mailbox to put in/take out something fairly important.
It would be safe to say we've all said something we later regretted afterwards and it inevitably took several minutes or even days to smooth it over to the point where it was all forgotten. However, when it comes to being a celebrity the things said can most certainly come back to haunt that person to where he or she will try to apologize publicly in order to avoid causing any further damage to not only himself/herself personally, but also professionally as well. With such incidents as Michael Richard aka Kramer caught on a cell phone camera angry in a comedy club using the "N" word can take months or even years to have it possibly have forgotten, but unfortunately nobody in Hollywood rarely ever forgets leaving one's career vulnerable to suffer because of it.
For the question can be asked of you, what is the most outrageous thing a celebrity has done that you have seen on tv or read about that you ended up thinking to yourself or saying out loud WTF? Perfect examples would be Tom Cruise's jumping on the couch on Oprah's show to express how much he loves Katie Holmes, the whole Anna Nicole Smith situation being top story news instead of the war in Iraq, and most recently Britney Spears sharing her entire head bald. Essentially, Britney Spears is on a path heading towards a downward spiral that has many people concerned to where if she doesn't get help soon she lose much more than her career, she'll also lose her kids and I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think KFed should get custody of the kids until she gets clean.
In retrospect, fame can give you so much and yet it can take away everything in a matter of seconds. The money, notoriety, status, friends, self-respect, dignity, reputation, and so much more can be gone and all a person has left with are the memories of someone who was at one time a major player in the industry. It's just a matter of making the right decisions because there is a time limit to make a positive difference because fame can literally swallow you whole and then spit you out. In the end, every celebrity today started out with 15 minutes of fame as they gradually created stellar careers for themselves, but for some celebrities such as Britney Spears it seems as if her countdown to self destruction is close at hand and if not handled immediately it's not going to be a pretty sight when then the clock winds down to 00:00:00.

Love Is
Someone once said, ~I don't pretend to know what love is for everyone, but I can tell you what it is for me; love is knowing all about someone and still wanted to be with them more than any other person; love is trusting them enough to tell them everything about yourself, including the thing you might be ashamed of; love is feeling comfortable and safe with someone, but still getting weak in the knees when they walk into a room and smile at you.~ Let me ask you this question, do you think love can be defined? If you think about it, when it comes to love, every person is given the opportunity to give their own personal definition of what love means to them and today being Valentine's Day I am taking this opportunity to share with you my definitions of what love means to me.
Essentially, love means never losing the feeling you get when you become nervous to the point where you are sick to your stomach. For it's a seemingly dangerous but harmless condition that every person has suffered from at one time or another and it's called having the proverbial butterflies. In a sense, the feelings you have for someone metaphorically flutter around within your internal organs and wreak havoc, in a good way of course. It's those butterflies that twist, turn inside out, and tie up your stomach in so many knots you aren't able to concentrate, but it's an experience like any other. Let me tell you something, no matter what age you are, don't ever forget what those butterflies feel like because if you do, you end up basically losing one of the best parts of falling in love.
Oftentimes, love means allowing yourself to feel the true authenticity of someone who is so real it overwhelms you emotionally. You see, there is a moment where you start out just wanting to have fun with someone without any emotional attachment, but somewhere along the line that fun stops and becomes absolutely serious as the realization hits you hard to where you're scared out of your mind. The feelings you try so hard to suppress in order to not get in the way of what you initially intended to do come to the surface and you end up facing reality. For the reality is shown by tears being shed and its tears of happiness rather than sadness because you've come face to face with someone who you want to get to know ever more and its a rarity these days to make that kind of real connection.
For the question can be asked, do you have the ability to see the one you love each day with fresh eyes? Thinking about it, love means being able to see from within your heart certain things about a person that even though you've seen it a million times before like a particular mannerism or getting excited over something trivial, you not only still smile from ear to ear, but you also laugh because you continue to find it oddly cute. It's the seemingly insignificant little details, not just the big ones in a relationship that matter most because it lets you rediscover a whole new side that you never knew before and it most definitely refreshes the passion you have in your heart, which gives you a chance to live each day with that someone special as if you met for the very first time.
In retrospect, there is no exact definition of love giving you the opportunity to interpret it as you see it and for the most part there is neither a right nor wrong answer. Saying that additional definitions come to my mind about love such as acting immature in a mature way, knowing someone finally gets "it" about you, and my personal favorite is seeing THE most beautiful woman in the world in a crowd full of beautiful women. Ultimately, the words you want to express can be simple and don't always have to be a long complicated explanation that completely confuses anybody from trying to understand it. In the end, when it comes to searching within your heart and soul for a meaningful definition, can you in your own words be able to define what love is and it's a song by Brian McKnight and Regina Velasquez that best reflects this thought. Happy Valentine's Day!

The Sweetest Thing
John Lennon once said, ~We got the gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can't just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it's going to get on by itself. You've got to keep watering it. You've got to really look after it and nurture it.~ Without a doubt, love or true love for that matter takes time, effort, blood, sweat, tears, and endless amounts of patience in working to keep something that is truly considered to be not only the most precious, but also the most valuable gift from withering away completely in the so called garden of life. In some aspect, the human heart is like a garden in which a particular seed is planted, watered, and then given time to grow to become something so beautiful you most definitely want to share it with someone special.
If you think about it, there is a seemingly peaceful, serenity when you find yourself looking at or working in a garden. You can surely find solace in a place where the hectic, noisy, crazy world you live in slowly fades away as you experience becoming lost in the calmness of nature by way of smelling the morning dew as you stand outside to soak in the warm sun rising in the distance, feeling the gentle breeze brush against your face, or hearing the sound of birds chirping above you. In a sense, that same peaceful, serenity can be felt within your own heart as the love you share with someone grows to where you can simply get lost in the harmonious sound of a steady heartbeat beating against the chest of your potential and/or significant other.
Essentially, the right tools should be at your disposal to have a garden that you can be proud of as you used your own two hands to, in some way, bring to life one of God's many creations. You see, one of the most important things to have when working in the garden of a person's heart is being able to have a gentle touch because like a plant, the human heart has a fragileness to where it initially takes someone who has the proverbial green thumb in knowing as to whether or not the right amount of love your watering with is either too little, too much, or just right. For the most part, it's just a matter of learning through trial by error as you use three of the most important tools you have which are a caring heart, ears to listen with, and words to say that are comforting, as well as, full of wisdom.
As said in the beginning, it takes work and endless amounts of patience in planting with your own two hands something that hopefully lives for a lifetime. What it comes down to is not being afraid to get your hands dirty, in a manner of speaking, and digging down deep to get rid of any weeds that may be hindering growth. It's a sad situation indeed when one doesn't want to get his or her hands dirty and dig for any kind of problem(s) that if it's not taken care of immediately it can spread causing serious damage. Let me tell you something, in order to have a blossoming relationship succeed, you must work to get to the root of the problem(s), so to speak, and if both people are willing to dig, pull, and remove those problems together you'll begin to witness the fruits of your labor.
Marina Schinz said, ~To create a garden is to search for a better world. In our effort to improve on nature, we are guided by a vision of paradise. Whether the result is a horticulture masterpiece or only a modest vegetable patch, it is based on the expectation of a glorious future. This hope for the future is at the heart of all gardening.~ In retrospect, every person wants a relationship that will always smell like a bed or roses instead of smelling as if something died in them. However, you can't always count on that happening so you just have to keep planting/cultivating/manicuring your garden in hopes for a happy, weed-free future. In the end, the sweetest thing in all the world is when love still blooms between two people whose relationship continues to be deeply and happily rooted by the seed of friendship.
