Jeffery Bernard once said, ~Women should have labels on their foreheads that say, 'Government Health Warning: Women can seriously damage your brain, genitals...and good standing among your friends.'~ Without a doubt, women are considered the most beautiful creatures on the face of the plant and yet can also be considered the most dangerous force to be reckoned with, which many a man out there have experienced firsthand. As a guy, you have to always proceed with caution when approaching a woman or even a group of women because you never know if you'll be greeted with open arms or a right hook to the jaw.
When it comes to psychological warfare, women know how to get in our heads to the point that we're seriously messed up mentally. Women have that innate ability to make guys so crazy that we end up literally tearing out our own hair because of how they can affect us in either a positive and/or negative way. Positive in a way that you always have a goofy grin on your face when you're thinking about a particular female and negative in a way that you start doing/saying things that you wouldn't normally never do, which makes a guy look/sound foolish. Let me tell you something, I've been messed up in the head several times because of a particular female, but I've ended up coming out of it okay...for the most part.
Essentially, being physically hurt by a woman, whether intentionally or by accident, really really hurts. Every guy for whatever reason has either been hit in the arm, punched in the face, slapped upside the head, pushed, slapped in the face, and/or kneed in the walnuts, etc. for doing/saying something stupid or doing/saying absolutely nothing, which from our standpoint is considered a lose-lose situation. Though I haven't personally been slapped/punched in the face or kneed in the walnuts *knock on wood* I know some guys that have and to those particular guys out there I simply say this to you, I feel your pain.
Oftentimes, a woman can cause friction between a man and his friends due to the amount of time he spends with her rather than with them. It can be a proverbial tug of war, in a manner of speaking, to where an ultimatum is given by the woman to either choose either his heart for her or his friendship with them, which is a touchy decision to make indeed if you're looking at it from a guy's perspective. On one hand he wants to be happy within his heart, but on the other hand he doesn't want to turn his back on the friends who he's known for quite some time. However, think about this ladies, if a man's friends or truly his friends they will tell him to choose you because they will always be there for him no matter what happens in the relationship.
In retrospect, women will always be around to make guys crazy, hit them physically in some kind of way, and cause friction between their friends. Thinking about it though, it's because of women that they make life that much more interesting even though we may suffer brain damage from them. In a funny way men need women because without them guys all over the world wouldn't know which direction to go, how to dress, and constantly be reminded how moronic we are at times. Ultimately, no matter how many times guys swear off women because of bad experiences, we continue to dust ourselves off and get back in the game because they have that certain power over us which I can only simply describe as girl power.

A Touch Above The Rest
Edwin Hubbel Chapin once said, ~Every action of our lives touches on some chord that will vibrate in eternity.~ You have to admit, the power of a touch whether its metaphorical, physical or emotional can make a big difference in a any person's life that it can personally affect you. For a simple touch can trigger the senses that it will have you reflect back to the who, what, where, when and sometimes why of that particular person and.or event in one's life. Let me ask you this question, who or what in your life has touched you in such a positive way that you will always have a smile on your face.
If you think about it, there is something special in a certain look that is given by or received from a potential and/or significant other, which can pull/touch the proverbial heartstrings. Essentially, its that nonverbal communication that can absolutely speak volumes to where you can actually see two hearts touching and connecting together. Yet, does that look stand the test of time 10, 20, 30, 50 years down the road? My answer is yes because even though my parents have had rough times the look is always there between them, which shows that the nonverbal communication of love continues to touch both of them even when they are angry at each other.
When it comes to the physical aspect of being touched, in a positive way of course, it’s like a greeting or goodbye that you feel good within your heart. For guys, a welcomed greeting such as a handshake can turn into a well choreographed routine of hand gestures and though it looks stupid it brings enjoyment, as well as, a sense of cohesiveness for a group of guys who made their own personal greeting for each other all their own, which nobody can take away from them. Women, on the other hand, are more affectionate and personal with their greetings and goodbyes to where hugs are shared and tears are shed as if they may not see each other again, which shows that there is a bond between women that totally confuses guys, but I digress.
Without a doubt, a person can be emotionally touched within one's own heart and soul. Music, considered chicken soup for the soul, can touch every emotional button by the lyrics being sung by a particular artist or group. It's the lyrics in a particular song that can convey how you feel now or back then that can bring out certain emotions such as anger, confusion, sorrow, bitterness, happiness, contentment, etc. Each and every one of us has a song growing up that when you hear it you smile as you flashback to your childhood. Personally speaking, the song Bear Necessities from The Jungle Book always brings a smile to my face to where I still find myself moving to the beat of the song and I will continue to do so long into my golden years.
In retrospect, the actions each of us take when it comes to our own heart will reverberate and hopefully touch someone who sees how truly special you are. For the question can be asked though, when it comes to one's own heart, has there been a guy/girl who truly looked within your heart, touched it to the point your heart smiles, and ultimately gave you a song within your heart that lasted a lifetime? For those of you who have never experienced being fully touched in your heart, you will someday meet or already have met that special someone who touches every part of your heart and you know what, in the end it's considered a touch above the rest.

Shape Of My Heart
Malcom Steven Forbes once said, ~ To measure the man, measure his heart.~ What in the heart of a man? For a woman, its a question she wants to know because it inevitbaly shows who he really is. Oftentimes, it is difficult for any woman to know what's true in a particular man's heart for the simple reason that he can disguise his intentions, which some, most, or all women have experienced firsthand. Its a constant guessing game for a woman to meet a guy whose words and actions are actually coming from his heart or coming from a place where the sun don't shine. In my own thinking, for a woman to know what true in his heart look at those that he has affected around him and there you the get the true measure of a man.
The litmus test for any woman is to see the interaction between him and children of any age. Trust me when I say kids will tell you if they truly like you within a matter of seconds and though they may not tell you he or she will show you in their own way, but I digress. Connecting with kids is something rare indeed for any woman to see and there are men who have that innate ability to not only make a connection, but also continually hold on to it. For its a connection/vibe that is truly genuine and real to where a woman knows that he is not faking it in order to just get to her or impress her, which probably some, most, or all women have encountered.
Oftentimes, for a woman to known the measure of a man's heart is to talk to people who know him best which are his friends, but more importantly his best friend(s). Who better to get the skinny than from the person or persons he spends the most time with and he, she, or they have seen him at his highest, lowest, as well as, points in between. Essentially, its that same exact friend or group of friends who knows how much heart he has when it comes to certain situations in life that affect him personally to where has that passion deep within his heart and soul, which drives him to never give up. For its through his friend(s) that a woman can truly be touched at what she finds about him and how big of a heart he truly has.
In my own thinking, to truly measure the heart of a man is to see him interact with his family either one on one or as a group. Depending on how tight he is with his family, can for the most part, determine how much love he will share or shares with that special someone in his life. Without a doubt, a woman would like to have the love he shares with his mom mixed in with that loving admiration and respect for his father, and topped off with the protective big brother love he shows for his brother(s) and/or sister(s), which would be considered an awesome mixture to have. So let me ask you this question ladies, have you found a man who has that balanced mixture of love for you in his heart that's not too little or too much?
In retrospect, a woman can never truly know the measure of a man's heart until she gets to know him. Ladies, this may come as a shock to you, but guys do have feelings and if you could open up the chest of any guy you can probably see past scars that run deep from being emotionally hurt. So, what I'm trying to say ladies is don't look past the so called "nice guy" because he undoubtedly has something great to offer you." In the end, a "nice guy" will one day stand in front of you, look you in the eyes, and say this: "Don't measure me by how I look or the amount of money I have in my wallet; but instead measure me by what you see from within the shape of my heart which a song by BSB that kind of reflects this thought.

A Soul Thing
Ray Charles once said, ~What is soul? It's like electricity, we don't really know what it is, but its a force that can light up a room.~ Let me ask you this question, when you think of the word soul when it pertains to music, who do you immediately think of? Personally speaking, names that come to my mind are Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Fats Domino, Luther Vandross, Bo Diddley and of course the late great Ray Charles. It's these particular people who have an essence to their soul that they not only breathed life into their songs but also they moved you both physically and metaphorically to where it brings out certain thoughts, feelings, and/or emotions as well.
Without a doubt, music touches the soul to a point where you can literally get lost in the melody and lyrics. Sending you to a far off distant world thinking about a moment of happiness or sadness in your life, depending on which song it was of course. Every person, at some point in life, has stopped what they were doing, closed their eyes, and listened to a song that would take them on a journey. Although they weren't physically going anywhere, they were most certainly going somewhere mentally, as well as, emotionally to a point that you actually were tired from the journey afterwards. Whether it was your first kiss, first dance, the day you got married, when your child was born, etc. your soul was moved by that particular song playing on the radio.
If you think about it, there is an absolute truth and beauty when something or someone stirs your soul to the point where it changes you. Most definitely, there is absolute truth and beauty in a song especially the ones that you keep close to your heart and soul because they're a link to someone special or particular event in your life either in the past, present, or future. In a sense, a song defines who we all are as individuals and it brings to life something within one's soul that when you hear a particular song you can't help but be captivated by not only the lyrics but also the person singing those words.
For the question can be asked, who have you seen or heard lately on the radio that exudes soul today? Not many come to mind because certain artists tend to bring out one single emotion rather than a plethora of emotions such as joy, laughter, sorrow, aggressiveness, anger, heartache, heartbreak, and anger. An artist, such as Ray Charles, had that underlying presence and energy to bring out those emotions and feelings to where you continue to feel the soulful meaning within every word he sings to this day. It's a rarity these days to hear a person now-d-ays whose presence leaves a lasting impression on not only you but also people around you as well.
American Idol has graced our presence once again and one simple questions needs to be asked, 'Does anybody have soul?" Among thousands of people, Taylor Hicks, has become the definition of soul and he's a person who not only has it, but also brings with him a certain, presence, likeability factor, and an energy that is electrifying many people across the world, which hasn't been felt in music in quite some time. A throwback of Ray Charles and Joe Cocker, with a bit of Michael McDonald mixed in. When it comes to the fans of Mr. Taylor Hicks, it's not about an obsession thing or a popularity thing, it's not even a rivalry thing with over fans; in the end, what it basically comes down to is a soul thing.
