Keep The Faith

Percy Bysshe Shelly once said, ~If we reason, we would be understood; if we imagine, we would that the airy children of our brain were born anew within another's, if we feel, we would that another's nerves should vibrate to our own, that the beams of their eyes should kindle at once and mix and melt into our own, that lips of motionless ice should not reply to lips quivering and burning with the heart's bent blood. This is Love~ Every person has been or is in love with someone and there is one day out of the year that he or she can express one's love for that particular person and it is Valentine's Day.

In some aspects, it's a "holiday" that can either bring a good day or a bad day. Think about it, it's only one day out of the year a person, who is single, can get very depressed and somewhat bitter. Thoughts of wonder begin to creep into one's mind as he or she contimplates whether "the one" will step into our lives. For most people, they have already found the man or woman of their dreams. But for some, guys are trying to find the foot that fits the proverbial glass slipper and ladies are still waiting for their prince charming to sweep them off their feet and ride off into the sunset.

As with Valentine's Day, gifts are always going to be a factor, because the gifts one chooses can be a struggle to either find or make. It can get to the point where one gives up and simply goes with the proverbial standy which is usually flowers and chocolate. BUT if one is creative, he or she can express appreciation in a totally inventive, meaningful and thoughtful way like writing this thought for instance. I'm not the type of person who rarely ever reveals his sentimental side, but when occasions such as Valentine's Day rolls around, I can make an exception.

John Alexander Thom said, ~Human affection is like an island of warmth in a sea of indifference, like a campfire in a wintering wilderness. Valentine's Day is simply an occasion set aside for the celebration of that precious affection. We who feel the affection make a move in midwinter to convey some of that warmth; we send a card, write a note, telegraph some flowers, or make a long distance phone call. It takes off the chill; it gives us a stepping stone to spring.~ A person just has to keep one's heart open and focus on the positive, because one day Cupid will be on target for each of us.

In retrospect, a person doesn't have to spend a lot of money on gifts, cards, stuffed bears, or flowers. If a person creates something that comes straight from the heart it truly is the most special gift one can receive. Thinking about it a simple smile is considered the greatest gift a person can be given back for giving appreciation to those that are in one's life professionally and personally as well. In the end, I say this to each of you may the love you have already found last forever; but the love that is so elusive to you, will be found one day, just keep the faith.
