Welcome To The Darkside

Everybody has a darkside that is locked away deep inside one's own mind. For all the anger and frustration that one suppresses over the years builds up and is stored away like old clothes so to speak. It can come out at any moment during one's own lifetime when one least expects it. For we live our daily lives with anger all around us but it is how we deal with the anger that makes us who we are as a person. For friends and family have seen just a glimpse of the proverbial Mr Hyde as one goes about living like Dr. Jekyl. For they hope they never see that side of us come out any time soon.

For nobody wants their darkside to come out and run rampant among the ones we have gotten to know over the years. The transgression and repercussions that might entail when the so-called "madman" wants to come out and play. It's a thought that scares some because what if the madman comes out and never wants to leave. Would any of us enjoy the feeling of letting go of all emotion and not care about the consequences afterwards. If compared to, it would be like Dr. David Banner turning into the Hulk. Who knows what any of us would do, for the circumstances may vary due to the events of one's own life.

Yet it's there deep inside waiting to come out at any given time, like a supervillain waiting in the shadows to conquer his enemies. If compared to it is somewhat like the struggle Anakin Skywalker goes through as he eventually turns into Darth Vader. He feels the darkness within himself, yet he tries to suppress it and continue the good fight. But some story book endings never have a happy ending. For it may take days, months, years, or even decades to come back from a place that hasn't seen the light of day.

It's like the movie Anger Management, where some have explosive anger and implosive anger. For those that have explosive anger they show it outwardly and have issues with the world. Others have implosive anger where every pent up rage is bottled up and at any time one could explode like a powder keg. For if one sees the keg about to explode, run for cover because the shiznit is about to hit the fan. For whoever is in the path of the explosion may get hurt or not survive at all. Who knows what any of us are capable of when we let our darkside out to play so to speak.

The question is would we be able to control our darkside or will or darkside control us? A question that many may not have the answers to, for one has to experience it for themselves. Each of us has seen our darkside up close and personal, for it is not a pretty sight. The key to coming back to the light so to speak, is to hold on to that one thing that is near and dear to one's own heart. That one thing keeps one from embracing the darkness completely and turning themselves into something they would never want to be.

It's sort of compared to the movie City Slickers in which Curly tells Billy Crystals' character to think of that one thing that makes him/her happy and hold on to it. Each of us have that one thing in their lives that we hold on to which keeps them from slipping into the abyss. We have all come close to the edge of that abyss and almost fell in but luckily never have. So I ask you this question: What is that one thing that you hold on to that keeps you from going into the darkside?
