Rainy Days

As the saying goes, rainy days are here again. For when it rains one's own hectic, chaotic life seems to slow down and take a breather in a manner of speaking. It can be a time of reflection as one thinks about the good ole days when life was much simpler back in the day as a kid. "No Worries, Be Happy". It was an anthem for a kid as he/she plays to their heart's content in the rain and not worry about the consequences afterwards.

It's often a given that sleep is the number one choice for those when rain can ruin a perfectly good day. Yet, rain is always needed to quench the earth's thirst when the heat can be unbearable at times. For some, rain can be considered the party pooper, so to speak, as certain planned events are canceled and have to be rescheduled. Yet others embrace the rain and welcome it back like an old friend returning home. It can also be a connection to one's own childhood for we all at one time or another played or sang in the rain.

Yet, there are times when the gloom and doom or rain can be considered an omen of bad things to come. It is a sign that their day might be going downhill from that point and one cannot avoid it no matter what one tries to do. It will be there waiting like a Lion waiting for his potential prey to cross his path. It's just a matter of thinking positive, using MacGyver-like instincts to make one's day interesting. Making up games, cleaning one's house, reading a good book, or taking the day off work and spending time with family. It's the power of choice that makes living in America so great and makes one feel like a teenager who skips school to play hooky.

For each raindrop can be a representation of life. For when each drop hits the ground the ripples that it creates represent the details of one's life. The highs and lows, hopes and dreams, the loves lost and the loves found, and the journey of life that hasn't been written yet. It's like a window to one's soul for the rain can bring about a sense of peace and can clean out the soul in a manner of speaking. That is what rain does, it is needed to wash away the dirt and grime that life can throw at you when driving down the road of life.

When it rains, it's like getting a fresh new start. Things that couldn't be seen are seen again for the rain has washed the dirt and grime away. For once the rains stop and the skies open up, the smells that it brings forth can send one thinking back to the past. For rain is the psychiatrist of one's life that doesn't need payment in the end. As kids all into adulthood we often repeat this saying. A saying that may vary with interpretation , "Rain, rain, go away come again another day. If you don't, that's okay, I'm just going to sleep the day away.

When the rain stops, the skies open up, the sun shines and a rainbow forms in the distance. For we are often kids at a candy store in a manner of speaking when fun and jubilation are at hand. For it is like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow so to speak. For the treasure at the end of the rainbow can be different for everybody? What is at the end of the rainbow when skies clear up for you and the rain stops?
