For many the hours spent on higher learning are coming to an end. The time to move on to much greater things in the real world have now come at last. It is a moment one sees coming, for fear and apprehension takes hold as one analyzes his/her situation. The knowledge, if any, that has sunk in will be used out in a world that eats people alive metaphorically speaking. It's what one has been preparing for since the realization of what he/she wants to do for a profession in life.
The professors/teachers will and forever be one's mentors. For they encouraged us to achieve higher excellence when some days we felt like underachievers. It's a profession that never gets well-deserved credit for molding the minds of those that have greatly succeeded in the real world. It takes a combination of brains and street smarts to get to the head of the class in a manner of speaking. One can't rely on brains alone and vice versa. It takes both to accomplish goals that may seem impossible to achieve, for one needs MacGyver type knowledge to get past obstacles that seem unmoveable.
One can reflect on the long hours of hitting the books, the frustrations, the personal victories, and disappointing defeats for it was a journey that was well traveled. For the blood, sweat, and tears were well worth the sleepless nights as one comes close to walking the path of accomplishment and receives that golden chalice called a diploma. For that diploma is the proverbial knighthood to greatness as one kneels and gets anointed by King Arthur in a manner of speaking. It's a dubious honor and as one savors that moment, he/she will now leave the institution that one entered so long ago.
As one takes the final look back at the past a bit of sadness overwhelms that person. One may think to themselves where each of us will be in the coming years as each separates into individual paths of potential success. Will there be a CEO in the making, a producer, a manager, actor, actress, etc. Who knows what paths each person may walk, it's an unknown that many are excited yet scared about. Nobody wants to see their future ahead of time, for that takes all the fun of finding out what lies ahead.
For some, the ending of one life, means the beginning of another. It's a matter of thinking positive and continually reaching for that brass ring and not giving up on one's dreams. One must keep their feet on the ground, stay humble, keep the advice that was given close at all times, and always remember who you are and where you came from. Is it the end of the road? Not by a longshot. It's merely a pitstop from the street to the wide open road. Hopefully there won't be any stop lights to continually keep you from where you want to go in life.
