Crossroads

There are times in a person's life when they reach a crossroads, and the decisions that person makes determines the next step in their journey. Whether it be good or bad, there is no turning back and the results may vary. Every one of us may stand at some point and time at their own crossroads. Two paths, one being less traveled and the other traveled so many times over and over again.

Robert Frost said it best in his poem The Road Not Taken:

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then too the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Many have either traveled the road not taken and have been through memorable and disappointing experiences. But it's those memorable and disappointing experiences that most of us gladly keep with and would not trade them for anything else. The mistakes made over the years are a learning experience and that goes for the memorable ones as well. Are there any regrets, if any, for when one looks back at the best and worst of times?

For each of us we come to a point in our lives when we stand in front of two paths. Paths that show where the rest of our lives will lead. Would you take the easy road where the obstacles are minimal and as the saying goes, it's basically smooth sailing. Or would you take the road that hasn't been traveled much. A road that has many mountains to climb and where one has to walk through fire and brimstone to achieve success.

One will stand at his or her own crossroads and have to decide which path to take. The decision that the person makes will greatly affect the outcome for the rest of his/her life. It's a tough decision, but keep in mind that the people that are along with you for the ride will be there for you. Helping and guiding you through every bump in the road and possible road rage as one is metaphorically being cut off. In the end when you reach the crossroads of life, which path will you choose?
