Life is Like A Drawing

We all start out our lives as blank pieces of paper waiting to be drawn or written on. The moment a mark is put on that paper our journey of life has begun. A drawing can show the growth in the past, improvement in the present, and success in the future. Like a drawing the details of our lives are being marked down bit by bit by God. Though the details of a drawing can be erased, the details of our lives can never be. For we can only improve on them and learn from them as we grow emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually.

Like a drawing, our own lives can never always be perfect. For there will always be blemishes that will show when least expected. We all in some ways are perfectionists, yet we aren't perfect. We have our own type of kryptonite so to speak, it's how God made us. One can try to cover up the blemishes of our lives but he sees them all and knows the future blemishes that will show up. A thumbprint there, a water spot here, an accidental bent corner are always inevitable. It's just a matter of accepting what will happen or refusing it all together, which can sometimes have dire consequences.

A drawing can be drawn over and over again but the original can never be duplicated. In a way, now matter how many times we try to start over lives over again, the life we originally led is the one that mattered most. For if we try to correct the past we run the risk of further putting more blemishes on that piece of paper. We all at one time or another wished we could go back and relive the past. If I could steal a line from one of my fave shows Quantum Leap, go back into the past and put right that once was wrong. In contrast, a drawing can be thrown away, discarded, or torn in half, and in a way we can do that with our own lives. Throwing away friends, family, career, the ones we love and care about, and our hopes and dreams.

In the whole scheme of things, God is the artist and we are the blank pieces of paper that are being written or drawn on. He knows every little detail of our lives and will add them in as time goes by. We may not know what our own picture will look like and in my own opinion, I really don't want to know. I want to experience the details of my own life hour by hour, day by day, week by week, month by month and year by year. Life for most of us is a mix of stress, frustration, humor, success, defeat, and insanity, yet it is that mix that I wouldn't want any other way, for that is what makes life so interesting. Take the good with the bad as it has been said. Though He hasn't completed his masterpieces, the portraits that he will eventually complete will turn out absolutely perfect in the end.
