Kids Today

ATTENTION* The following views expressed below might offend some people. Do not hold it against me, but if you have another view feel free to email me about it.

Respect has lost its meaning in today's generation of kids. The lessons taught were absolutely vital in the growth of many well-adjusted kids in their early/late 20's and on. Though valued in those that grew up in the past, it has been forgotten in time, a time when kids respected the authority and wisdom of adults.

The wisdom that was shared from generation to generation was kept with great value. Yet, in today's generation it has been lost to deaf ears, in one ear, out the other so to speak. It's like they are totally ignoring anything that is being said to them and only hearing what they want to hear.

The respect that was earned is now being stomped on and kicked to the curb in a manner of speaking. What has happened to these kids of this generation? Have they been jaded by the new wonders of technology being sprouted up every which way?

In the past, kids like myself showed respect at a drop of a hat. If disrespect was given in any way, shape, or form, punishment was given swift and hard. Though painful it may seem, it has made me the person who I am today. Whereas, the generation of kids today are totally opposite and it is evident where I work.

The unorthodox methods of punishment are in reality watered down versions, which basically teaches nothing. In the past, picking out your own switch and getting the belt were just a tip of the iceberg for some people. The punishment is the same for all but the methods are different.

The generation of kids today are turning into namby pamby whiners who throw a fit when they don't get their way, and that's just my personal opinion from working with kids for the past 8 years. In my view, what this generation needs is just a swift kick in the butt to have their reality checked and checked hard. In the end, the kids of my generation are far more well-adjusted than the kids of today.
